Firefox 1.5.0.X cant copy/paste anything to clipboard – Scroll Wheel not Working
This is really funny.. My Firefox recently self-upgraded to 1.5.0.3. But this problem has been persistant since the first Firefox 1.5.0.1 release. It was really bugging me as I couldn't cut paste anything at all… Here's what seems to work…
1) Close all instances of firefox.
2) Goto c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
2) Rename firefox.exe to afirefox.exe (or any other name for that matter).
3) Start the renamed executable
Now everything works fine
I dont know why they cant fix this at Mozilla??
Ebay Phishing Scam – Looks real – Beware!
I just received one of the best written Phishing scams which probably a lot of users over the internet must be receiving. Beware of this scam, as it takes your username and password and submits it to the scammer, who may then misuse your account. Here is a copy of the mail that I received:
*************************************************************************
From: aw-confirms@ebay.com
Subject: eBay Bid Cancelled.
| eBay sent this message to (xxxx@gmail.com). Your registered email address is included to show this message originated from eBay. Dear eBay Member,The bid that has been entered in error for the item ( 9717606598 ) has been cancelled. Regards, |

Looks real? I am sure it does, once you click on the Item Id, you are taken to a page where you have to enter your ebay username and password. Once you enter the username and password, you are eventually transferred to the real ebay site, where once again you will have to put in your username and password, this time its really with ebay…
The website where the information is collected is at this address http://0069dec.netsolhost.com/default.htm
I guess I figured out that this was a scam for the following reasons:
1. The website address in the toolbar is http://0069dec.netsolhost.com/default.htm and not with ebay.com domain
2. Authentic Ebay messages include the real name along with the ebay username in the header part, where this mail mentions the email address only.
Watch out for this scam and similar ones around the net!
Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Install Problems (Msfeeds.dll)
If you happened to download the newly released public beta of IE7. You might have faced install problems regarding msfeeds.dll missing. This is a common problem that is being faced by a lot of users. It took a long time but I finally was able to install it! Heres what works…
1. Close all spyware detection programs. If you have spybot S&D installed and have immunized your system, you may want to tick that option off first.
2. Reboot your computer so that any previously failed installations are removed.
3. Run regedit.exe and expand HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
Change each the following keys in the way given below:
.hta
htafile
.tif
.tiff
.prf
prffile
a. ON EACH FILE, RIGHT-CLICK ON THE ENTRY IN THE LEFT PANE AND SELECT
“PERMISSIONS”
b. In the Permissions dialog box, select the “administrators” group
c. In the lower pane, check the boxes for “full control” and “read”, then
click the ADVANCED button.
d. From the Advanced Security Settings Dialog box, select “Administrators”
and then click the EDIT button
e. From the Permissions Entry dialog box, check the first item in the list
for “FULL CONTROL”
f. At the bottom of this dialog box, BE SURE TO CHECK THE BOX FOR ‘Apply
these permissions to objects and/or containers within this container only”
4. Reboot your computer
5. Install IE7 and it should work!!
Incase this fails to work then use this solution which is guaranteed to work..(A little more advanced)
1- Download regmon.exe from sysinternals
(http://www.sysinternals.com/utilities/regmon.html)
2- Run regmon.exe (the application will start logging a bunch of stuff,
don’t worry about it)
3- Press Ctrl-E (or in the menu, uncheck File->Capture Events) to stop
capturing events.
4- Press Ctrl-L (or in the menu, go to Options->Filter/Highlight) to create
a filter/
5- In the Regmon Filter dialog:
a- In “Include:” type: “update.exe”
b- Tick all the checkboxes at the bottom besides “Log Successes”.
c- Click OK
6- Press Ctrl-E (or in the menu, uncheck File->Capture Events) to start
capturing events.
7- Run iesetup.exe (after having rebooted if you did a prior unsuccessful
install).
8- Regmon should show you what keys are failing
9- Go to Start menu->Run, and launch regedit.exe
10- Select the key that’s failing in the left pane, right-click and select
“Permissions…”
11- Make sure that you have “Full Control” Permissions on that key.
12- Reboot (otherwise you won’t be able to reinstall after a failed
installation)
13- Reinstall IE.
